Abstract

Human life has been significantly influenced by the millennial generation, particularly among the younger generation. There is a need to promote character education based on local wisdom by incorporating cultural values that hold deep meaning to serve as a reference for character education, ensuring that the younger generation does not forget the local wisdom values of the Indonesian nation. This research uses a literature review method by reading and analyzing documents, journal article publications, official websites, and other relevant information sources. Data analysis involves data reduction, classification, interpretation, and drawing conclusions from the writings. The research results show that character education based on local wisdom in the Malioboro area of Yogyakarta can serve as an interesting example of integrating local cultural values into education. Some implementations of character education based on local wisdom in Malioboro, as the cultural and tourism center of Yogyakarta, include values such as mutual cooperation, politeness, and respect, which can be taught through various community activities.
